SOUTHINGTON, CT — Beginning Sept. 16, the Southington public school system will be providing free breakfast and lunch to students during the school day.

In addition, families with children 18 and younger can receive free meals through the schools' grab-and-go program when children are not in the school buildings.

"We strongly encourage everyone to feel comfortable having their students take advantage of this program," school officials said in making the announcement Friday.
