SOUTHINGTON, CT — The celebrity parade continued this week with the addition of television icon Jimmy Kimmel to a Southington family's quest to raise money for Feeding America though blockbuster movie remakes.

The movies have been around since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Southington resident Dan Presser jokes that he and his daughter, Maddie, were finding themselves "bouncing off the walls" with Maddie home from preschool and, with college sports on hold, Presser, the ACC Network producer the ESPN, on the sidelines.

So he put his production experience to work and Presser teamed up with Maddie to re-create a scene from the movie "The Lion King."

Presser and his wife, Beth, shared it with with a few friends and relatives, and the popularity began mounting.

Quarantine 2020 Productions then became a YouTube channel with scenes re-created from movies such as "Pretty Woman," "Forrest Gump," "Field of Dreams," "Braveheart" and "The Shining" and shows such as the "2020 Emmy Awards."

Presser said he then figured: Why not try to raise some money for a charity with all those views?

He chose Feeding America. Presser then created a donation page for Feeding America, which he has attached to the videos.

As of Tuesday morning, the total pledged was $70,786.

Presser said Kimmel agreed to make an appearance through mutual connections.

Kimmel joins A-listers such as Will Smith, who reversed his role in "Independence Day" as an alien and Tony Robbins, who made a substantial donation to the cause.
