Responding officers located both the vehicle, a 1988 Cadillac Brougham, and its driver, Bowman, on Old Turnpike Road.
Bowman, who lives in he area, at first reported that a tailgater caused him to strike a mailbox prior to entering his driveway, according to an arrest report. Police noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, searched it, and located a large plastic bag containing five individual bags of marijuana, according to an arrest report.
During the search, Bowman attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly taken into custody and the Cadillac was towed from the scene, according to an arrest report.
Bowman’s passenger and girlfriend, Pulvermacher, was in possession of a draw string bag with marijuana and several "unidentified pills" in a prescription bottle, according to an arrest report.
During the search of Pulvermacher’s bag, she charged officers, resulting in a minor injury to an officer, police said.
In all, officers seized 10.125 ounces of marijuana from Bowman and 1.865 ounces of marijuana from Pulvermacher, according to an arrest report.
Several hours after being released, Bowman broke into the police holding area, entered his car, rammed through a fence and attempted to flee police at a high rate of speed onto North Main Street, then Hobart Street.
After driving through several business parking lots, Bowman re-entered North Main Street and drove to the Southington Police Department front parking lot to pick up Pulvermacher, who at the time was being released on bond, according to a report.
Bowman then quickly exited the vehicle and ran south across Lazy Lane, police said. Several officers, along with a canine unit, were able to track Bowman along the nearby linear trail toward Queen Street, and he was taken into custody near Flanders Street, police said.
The damage to the police gate was estimated to be about $3,000, police said.
When he was arrested for a second time bowman had a marijuana "blunt" in plain view, police said.
