SOUTHINGTON, CT— A man was wounded in the leg as shots were fired in Southington over the weekend, police said.

At 11:37 p.m. Saturday, Southington police officers responded to the area of Rethal Street after received a report about shots fired. Neighbors quickly identified the location where the shooting occurred and told police the person responsible had fled the area, according to a report.

Neighbors also told police the victim had been transported to an area hospital by family members. according to a report.

The victim was located a short time later at Bristol Hospital with a gunshot wound to his calf, police said.

Police said the shooting seems to be "an isolated incident," in which, the unidentified suspect, described as "Black male," standing about 5-foot-7 with short hair wearing dark clothing, came to the home looking for a resident.

Following an exchange occurred outside the home, shots were fired and the victim was found
in the driveway before being taken to Bristol Hospital, according to a report.

Video captured from the area shows a vehicle, described as a dark blue Chevrolet Impala,
fleeing as approximately nine more shots were being fired, a report indicates.

Shell casings and other evidence were recovered from the area, police said.
