Manslaughter Charges Filed In Connection With Southington Crash

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Manslaughter charges have been filed in relation to a springtime single-car crash in Southington.

Police released details Monday of a warrant charging the driver, 22-year-old Gabriella Correa, with two counts of second-degree manslaughter with a motor Vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, possession of less than a half-ounce of cannabis, traveling too fast for conditions and failure to drive in the proper lane.

At 8:44 on the night of March 14, Southington police Department responded to the scene of a single car motor vehicle crash along the reservoir on Andrews Street, in between Long Bottom Road and Caretaker Road, records show.

According to a warrant, investigators determined that a Honda CR-V was traveling in a northeasterly direction on Andrews Street, heading toward New Britain. Three passengers were in the vehicle along with Correa, records show.

While negotiating a curve, Correa appeared to lose control, and the Honda crossed the double yellow line and struck several large rocks and the guard rail on the side of the road, according to a warrant. The vehicle suffered heavy disabling damage, records shop.

Both rear seat passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Correa and the front-seat passenger were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
