Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Southington Collision

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A pedestrian was seriously injured after a collision with a commercial vehicle Thursday night, Southington police said.

The crash took place at 7:13 p.m. on West Street near the main entrance to ESPN. West Street is the local name for state Route 229.

Police said a 26-yer-old Bristol woman was driving a commercial van in the right lane of West Street, heading south.

Michael Etcheto, 30, of Southington was on foot, walking northbound in the southbound lane, according to a report. Etcheto was transported to St. Francis Hospital by ambulance to be treated for serious injuries sustained in the collision, according to a report.

The van driver was not injured, according to a report.
