SOUTHINGTON, CT – A restaurant specializing in fresh-sourced dishes is set to expand into Southington. Plan b will be opening its newest location at 20 Spring Street in Southington in the old Bertucci's building.

The restaurant is located immediately off the Queen Street exit of Interstate-84. Renovations and construction are under way with an opening targeted for February 2020, owners said.

Plan b owners said to expect 50-to-60 new jobs to "fully staff" the 5,018-square-foot restaurant. The layout will seat approximately 150 people in both a bar area and dining room. The design will "integrate a mix of locally sourced reclaimed lumber and modern elements like their famous, gleaming, meat hook light fixtures," owners said.

Allie J. Gamble, the founder and CEO of Plan b parent company Locals 8 Restaurant Group, said of the expansion, “We like to build relationships with local farms, businesses and breweries, because we believe in supporting and growing with our communities. Of course, the produce is always fresher, the beer has a regional flavor and making new connections is just a win-win. This location will offer new specialty items that our other Plan b's scratch kitchens don't feature, such as home-made wood-fired pizzas like we do at Butchers & Bakers. Good times – Made locally is what we believe, that’s why each Plan b location provides a unique dining experience."

"We're proud to offer high quality food with approachable pricing that compliments the current offerings in the Southington area. Our award-winning burgers are what we’re really known for and that starts with using only the best ingredients," said Shawn M. Skehan, co-founder of Locals 8 Restaurant Group.

Founded in 2006, the restaurant features "all-American" craft beer, artisanal bourbon, and trademark burgers in an "upbeat, casual, neighborhood environment."

According to a restuarant profile, Plan b sources its "natural certified Black Angus beef" directly from ranchers in the Midwest. "Antibiotic-free, and hormone-free" chicken and pork are also featured.

Established in 2008 in Hartford, the Locals 8 Restaurant Group is the parent company of Plan b Restaurants, The Half Door, Tisane Euro Asian Cafe, Locals 8 Catering and most recently, Butchers & Bakers.
