Southington Blue Knights Marching Band Places 2nd at Nationals

Topped off a marathon two weeks of championship competitions.

The Southington Blue Knights Marching Band wrapped up their Fall 2018 Season on Saturday, November 10th at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. The BKMB took 2nd Place in their division earning a 95.113, and the Caption Award for Best Overall Effect. Southington also won the prestigious Cadets Award of Excellence which is given in recognition of the band’s “creativity, performance, overall effect, and professionalism on and off the field.” The top three National Championship spots were all filled by Connecticut Marching Bands.

The prior week found the Blue Knights in a double header of performances with a rescheduled New England States’ Competition on Wednesday, October 31st in which they earned a 95.088, placed 2nd and won the Caption Award for Best Color Guard in the state. They then performed at the US Bands Regionals Competition at Danbury High School on Saturday, November 3rd and placed 4th with a score of 95.275. The final encore performance of “Destiny: West” can be seen on Thursday, November 22 at the half time show of the Annual Thanksgiving Football game hosted by Southington, playing their traditional Turkey Day rival, Cheshire. The game begins at 10am.

The BKMB will next perform at Southington High School for their Annual Veteran’s Day Concert on Wednesday, November 14th at 7pm. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds benefit Veteran’s Homes in Connecticut.
