Southington Gymnasts Capture Class L Championship

MILFORD, CT — Outstanding competition in the CIAC girls gymnastics championships at Jonathan Law High School Saturday yielded continued dominance by one school, and a resurrection of winning traditions for two other highly-regarded programs.

Defending State Open champion Woodstock Academy won the Class S team title for the eighth straight year - the 10th straight class championship overall for the Centaurs - by compiling 140.425 points to 138.325 for runner-up St. Joseph. Southington had 138.875 points to edge Fairfield Ludlowe's 136.575 in Class L, marking the ninth title for the lady Knights in 16 years, but first since 2015. In Class M, New Milford won a title for the first time since the 2010 State Open with 134.800 points, besting the 133.925 of Wilton.

The State Open is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at 10 a.m. at New Milford High School.
