Southington Lobster Returns Home

The crustacean had been missing since May.

Southington’s landmark five-and-a-half-foot lobster statue has been returned to its original spot, NBC Connecticut reports.

The statue outside Gulf Shrimp was missing for four months and somehow made its way to a flea market in Massachusetts, according to the news channel.

A customer told an employee in May that the lobster was missing. The employee assumed the owner had taken it home to paint, but it turned out that there had been a theft.

The humor of the situation was not lost to owner Camille Simoneaux, who called police to report the theft, NBC Connecticut reports. Police, on the other hand, took the situation very seriously and knew exactly what statue Simoneaux was talking about.

The good news is the $2,000 statue is back and ready for photo-ops.
