Southington Obituary: Dalbert Butterfield, Jr., 88

Dalbert proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and worked as a machinist for many years at New Departure.

Dalbert G. Butterfield Jr., 88, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 at Apple Rehab in Plainville. He had been the loving husband of the late Marilyn (Minihan) Butterfield for 53 years.

Born in Meriden on March 7, 1930 to the late Dalbert G. and Adelaide (Meehan) Butterfield, he had been a longtime Southington resident. Dalbert proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist for many years at New Departure, retiring in 1983. Dalbert loved NASCAR, going to the casino and spending time at his cabin in Owl’s Head, New York.

He is survived by two children, son Dalbert Butterfield III and his wife Suzan and daughter, Sheryl Minahan and her husband David, all of Southington; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son Donald W. Butterfield, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Quinnipiac Cemetery, Southington.
