Southington Obituary: Joseph DelBuono, 80

Joseph M. DelBuono, 80, of Southington , passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at his home. He had been the loving husband of the late Sandra (LaPorte) DelBuono for 50 years.

Born on October 22, 1937 in Waterbury to the late Sylvester and Angeline (Summa) DelBuono, he had been a longtime Southington resident. Joseph proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Meriden after many years of service.

Joe loved sports. He was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan, enjoyed playing softball and spent many seasons coaching his kids little league and midget football teams. Most of all, Joe loved his family and was always their biggest supporter.

Joseph is survived by his four children: son, Sylvester “Sal” DelBuono and his wife Christine of Wolcott; Anthony DelBuono and his wife Christine of Southington; daughter, Elizabeth Ann DelBuono Kelley of Southington and daughter, Pamela Romanella and her husband Samuel of Griswold. He is also survived by ten cherished grandchildren: Jason, Jamie, Ryan, Krystle, Jesse, Michael D., Michael R., Kara, Marisa and Matthew and 2 great-grandchildren; Olivia and Jeremiah; one brother, Daniel DelBuono of South Carolina and 2 sisters, Rosalie Janazzo of Southington and Virginia Bamber of South Windsor and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Sandra, he was predeceased by his sister, JoAnn Argenio.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham Street Norwich, CT 06360.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
