Former Owner of Southington Travel Center Charged in Wage Case

The following arrest information was provided by the Southington Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Southington police have taken a former Southington resident and previous owner of the Southington Travel Center into custody after he allegedly failed to pay employees.

Christopher Tichy, 43, is facing one count, but also has an active case for charges that included using customer credit information to wrack up charges of $140,000 on their credit cards.

He is facing charges including first-degree larceny and nine counts of spending more than $500 on a revoked credit card in that case.

Tichy was released on a $50,000 bond following the initial case and is due back in Bristol Superior Court in November. He has entered a not guilty plea to larceny and credit card charges.

He was released following the latest arrest after posting a $1,000 bond and is due in court in November as well, court records show.

The Southington Police Department also reported the following arrests:

Oct. 18

Christopher Tichy, 43, of 196 Lakehurst Drive in Coventry, R.I., was charged with failure to pay wages, Oct. 18.

Jessica L. McKinley, 27, of 67 Fifth Street in Bristol, was charged with two counts of second-degree failure to appear, Oct. 18.

Oct. 19

Christian Bedard, 37, was charged with 43 Hunting Hill Drive in Southington, was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing, interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct, Oct. 19.

Oct. 21

Eric Trenchard, 40, of 716 Berry Patch Way in Southington, was charged with interfering with an officer, reckless endangerment and operating a motor vehicle under suspension, Oct. 21.

Other stats from reported traffic stops and incidents:

  • Two people were cited with simple trespassing.
  • Two people were cited with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
  • One person was cited with failure to grant right of way.
  • One person was cited with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
  • One person was cited with speeding/traveling too fast.
  • One person was cited with failure to insure motor vehicle.
  • One person was cited with following too close/unsafe backing.
  • One person was cited with failure to obey stop sign/traffic signal.
