“Spring is finally here and we have been very busy getting the property into shape for our spring and summer programs. We have a great group of staff and volunteers who dedicate time to making YMCA Camp Sloper look great for the campers and members” stated Mark Pooler, who will be the Camp Director for his 20th camp season. “Each year we make improvements and additions to the programs and facilities to keep things fresh and stay current with the trends” says Pooler. “The exciting new additions for the 2015 season are a Tricycle Race Track for our younger campers and the West Coast Waterslide and a variety of other smaller improvements around the property” commented Pooler.
Enrollment for the 2015 season is off to a great start with some specialty camps already filled. Open House is a perfect opportunity for parents and children to see what camp is all about and to register for the camp programs that are still available. YMCA Camp Sloper still has some space available in all the Traditional Camp programs, with the exception of Sloperians which only has some space in Session 3, as well as some specialty camps: Art Camp, Bookworm Camp, Building Block Camp, Cheer & Dance Camp, Circus Camp, Cross Country Camp, Eco Camp, Farm Camp, Fort Building, Girl Power Camp, Glee Camp, Golf Camp, Musical Theater Camp East & West, Photography Camp, Sports Camp and Track & Field Camp are just some of the great specialty camp options. Our Wanderers program for 3-5 year olds, which runs in 1 week sessions from 9AM-1PM each day, also still has openings throughout the summer. “The Wanderers program is a great introduction to what camp is all about. It is an age-appropriate program for our youngest campers and gives them a taste of what’s to come in future years at camp. Both my kids went through this program in recent years and loved it” says Pooler.
