The wonders of 3D printing helped surgeons remove a brain tumor from a Southington teen.

Adam Stedman, 16, had a tumor removed in March by doctors at the Boston Children’s Hospital, according to the Hartford Courant. They used a special 3D printer to make a replica of his brain, essentially a test run, before they opened up his skull.

One doctor compared it to a plumber being able to see where pipes are located before opening up a section of drywall.
