SOUTHINGTON, CT — Two people are facing drug charges in connection with a shooting incident in Southington, police said.

The shooting took place on Jan. 9 and police announced the arrests of 22-year-old Bristol resident Luis Medina and 22-year-old Southington resident Xavier Roldan Thursday.

The incident unraveled at 10:37 p.m. on Jan. 9. Officers responded to Rethal Street for a report of shots being fired and met by neighbors, who directed them to where the shooting took place, according to a case summary.

It turns out both fled the area, including the "victim," later identified as Medina, who was being transported to Bristol Hospital by family members with a calf wound, according to a case summary.

Police immediately determined the shooting was an "isolated incident."

The victim was located a short time later at Bristol Hospital with a gunshot wound to his calf.

Police said video captured from the area shows a dark blue Chevrolet Impala, fleeing the scene as approximately 9 more shots are being fired.

Shell casings and other evidence were recovered from the area.

Arrest warrants charged Medina and Roldan with possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Roldan was released on a $20,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of April 20.

Medina was on a $50,000court-set surety bond and given a court date of April 26.
