Suspicious Vehicle Complaint In Southington Leads To Drug Charges

An incident in Southington led to several charges against a Wolcott man, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — An incident on Sun Valley Drive in Southington led to several charges against a Wolcott man, police said.

Peter Rolny, 46, was charged with:

  • Possession with intent to sell narcotics
  • Possession with intent to sell crack cocaine
  • Failure to keep narcotics in original containers
  • Possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school zone
  • 20 counts of illegal possession
  • Failure to insure a private motor vehicle
  • Misuse of registration plates
  • Operating an unregistered motor vehicle

His bond was set at $25,000.00, police said.

At 11:12 p.m. on Jan. 7, Southington officers were dispatched to the area of Pleasant Street on a report of a suspicious motor vehicle, reported to be a dark colored SUV, stopping in the area and "unknown people trespassing onto multiple properties in the area," according to a report.

"Vigilant" neighbors reported seeing people enter a home on Sun Valley Drive that had recently been damaged in a fire, prompting a call to the SPD, according to a report.

Officers "quickly saturated" the area and located the" suspect vehicle" traveling west on Flanders Street, according to a report.

The vehicle, while being followed by officers, pulled into a residential driveway on Pleasant Street, a report indicates. Rolny was detained and placed under arrest, police said.

A search located an unlabeled prescription pill container with a large quantity of "mixed" pills and large quantity of cash. Police also discovered unlabeled prescription pill bottles with "large quantities" of pills, multiple clear plastic bags of crack and multiple sets of vehicle keys, according to a report.

In all, police confiscated:

  • $978.00 in cash
  • 410 "mixed controlled and noncontrolled pills"
  • 87 "wax-like paper folds" of heroin
  • 32.5 grams of crack cocaine
