Investigators concluded that the victims in the case went to a party on Mark Drive and, after staying for "only a few minutes," they walked back to their vehicles to leave, according to a report.

While walking, the victims were solicited by a "male voice," from inside a parked vehicle, asking if they, "wanted to smoke," according to police. One victim said two men emerged from a sport utility vehicle and one called his name, according to a report.

The victim told police he recognized the man as a childhood friend, according to a report.

After greeting each other, the victim said he opened the trunk of his vehicle and, when he looked up the second man pulled out a pistol, pointed it at his face, and said, "Gimme your (expletive),
I'm gonna cap you ... I'm gonna (expletive) kill you."

The victims said they gave up their shoes, a watch, an iPhone 11, a satchel, a wallet, credit/debit cards and cash, according to a report.

A second victim reported being "pistol whipped" before the men walked away and drove away in the SUV, according to a report.

The victims were able to positively identify Grimes, from "personal knowledge" and through a photo array, police said.

The second man was also identified, but he was killed in an Oct. 12 gun incident in another town, police said.

On Oct. 28, an arrest warrant for Karon Grimes was granted and on Wednesday he was transported from the New Britain Police Department D to Southington. He was to appear in court Wednesday.
