Traffic Lights Crash To Ground In Wild Southington Accident
Southington police are investigating a wild Friday morning crash.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A car rolled over, took out a utility pole and a second vehicle became entangled in traffic light wires on West Street in Southington Friday morning, police said.
Police said the crash took place at 7:04 a.m. on West, which is also state Route 229, in the area of Welch Road.
A vehicle traveling northbound on West Street left the road, traveled onto the right
shoulder of the northbound lane and struck a utility pole. The pole snapped and the vehicle rolled over and sustained "significant damage," police said.

Traffc lights came down and a southbound vehicle became entangled in the wires supporting the lights, police said.
The first pole was hit so hard that several other utility poles in the area were compromised in a chain reaction, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pole reported minor injuries was transported to a local
hospital via ambulance, police said. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured, police said.
Detours in the area were anticipated into Friday night, police said.
No immediate enforcement action was taken and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
