'Voyeuristic' Camera Discovered At Southington Store: Police

A man has been charged in a voyeurism case at a Southington store, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police have charged a 40-year-old Bristol resident in a voyeur case at a local big box retail store, a report indicates.

Joy Recio was charged with three counts of voyeurism with malice and there counts of second-degree breach of peace, according to a report.

Police released the details of the Jan. 28 case over the weekend. That day, officers went to the Target store in Southington, where an employee had found a small, motion-activated camera in a staff rest room that was "oriented toward a toilet."

The bathroom is a small, single-toilet handicapped accessible unisex unit located in the rear of the store behind a double door marked "Team Members Only," according to a report.

The camera was positioned to view people from the waist-down, according to a report. The camera was discovered by an employee after it broke loose from a wall and fell to the floor, according to a report.

A review of video recorded on the devices' SD card helped identify Recio, a Target employee, police said. Recio, described as a "good employee," in police interviews, worked at Target for more than three years, according to a report. .

During the investigation, Recio confirmed owning the camera, but was unwilling to provide further details, according to a report.
