2 Caught Removing Sand From Closed South Windsor Skate Park
South Windsor officials dumped sand on the skate park at Nevers Park after people violated coronavirus social distancing orders.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Three days after South Windsor officials ordered sand dumped on the town skate park because of repeated coronavirus social distancing violations, two people were caught trying to remove the sand, police said.
The skate park is located at Nevers Park.
At 4:39 p.m. Thursday, South Windsor police received a trespassing complaint. The caller said he saw two young men sweeping the sand off the skate park. The sand had been put on the skate park Monday after police dispersed several large groups despite social distancing orders. A sign was also placed at the facility indicating it was closed.

Officers arrived at the park and stopped the driver of a vehicle attempting to leave, according to a report. A 23-year-old from South Windsor and a 22-year-old from Tolland admitted they were trying to remove the sand from the skate park so they could use it and were issued trespass tickets, police said.
