2 Men Attacked By Rabid Coyote In South Windsor
A coyote killed by a car Sunday which tested positive for rabies is believed to be the same one which bit a man last weekend, police said.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A golfer was bitten and a jogger was confronted by a coyote which turned out to be rabid last weekend, and police believe the animal was the same one run over and killed by a car on Sunday.
The first incident occurred Friday evening, when a player was bitten in the buttocks on the 18th hole at Topstone Golf Course. The 18th borders a railroad track and heavily wooded area; coyotes most frequently live in wooded areas, grasslands or farmland. The victim sought medical treatment on his own following the bite, Sgt. Mark Cleverdon said.
A sign bearing large red letters was immediately placed on the clubhouse entrance at the club, cautioning players to be aware of the recent coyote sighting.

On Saturday morning, a coyote approached some people in the area of Windsorville Rd., and attacked a man who was jogging. The jogger told Patch, "The coyote didn't bite me, I fought her off and outran her until I reached the course."
Cleverdon said police believe it was the same coyote which had bitten the golfer.

A coyote jumped onto the hood of a car just on the East Windsor side of Windsorville Rd. Sunday. The motorist accelerated the vehicle to shake off the animal, then ran it over and killed it. South Windsor police came to remove the carcass and send it for rabies testing, and results indicating a positive test were received Wednesday, Cleverdon said.
The bite victim is undergoing rabies shot treatments, Cleverdon said, adding, "As far as we know, no other cases have been reported."
