Heavy rains from recent storms caused two sinkholes to develop at a South Windsor industrial park Wednesday afternoon.
One massive sinkhole nearly swallowed a dump truck and backhoe behind a building at the park. The heavy machinery has since been recovered, and the sinkhole partially filled.Â
A second, smaller, sinkhole formed in what used to be a parking area. That sinkhole has since been filled.Â

South Windsor saw 3.25 inches of rain in 45 minutes on Wednesday, forcing the land to give way, and forming a make-shift river on Edwin Road that flowed down into the parking area and behind a building at the industrial park.
Employees told Patch this is not the first time a sinkhole in the parking area has developed, but it is the largest they've seen to date.
