American Legion Auxiliary is welcoming new members

Interested in joining the ALA? Learn how to here

The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is the largest organization in the world dedicated to veteran service for women. Founded in 1919, the organization consists of around 800,000 members in 9,500 communities across the United States. American Legion Auxiliary members and volunteers help out veterans and other former and current members of the military along with their families through volunteer hours and programs.

The ALA of S. Windsor was formed in 2017. We are wives, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and grand daughters of Veterans who served.

What do we do for the community? The Auxiliary plays a huge part in the Girls State and Girls Nation programs which give aspiring young women leaders the opportunity to learn the importance of responsible citizenship. During Girls State, students are assigned to a mock city and spend a week learning about the political process. In addition we collect money through the Poppy program to directly help local Veterans in need. Monthly visits to the assisted living community to the visit with our female veterans is always a treat.
