SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The driver of a compact car somehow escaped serious injury when her car became wedged underneath a large truck at a busy intersection in South Windsor on Wednesday morning, police and fire officials said.

The crash took place just after 6 a.m. at interchange of Route 5 and Ellington Road and Interstate-291, fire officials said.

Acording to police, it appeared both the compact sedan and the truck were making left turns and the car "drifted" and became caught under the trailer. The upper part of the windshield then smashed.
