South Windsor Safety Town - Session II

Knowing how to call 911, what to do when approached by a stranger and how to use traffic lights and cross at sidewalks are all essential lessons that every child should know, certainly before they enter Kindergarten.

The South Windsor Junior Women’s Club and the South Windsor MOMs club will do their part to make sure the little ones of South Windsor are well prepared as they take their first steps onto the school bus. The clubs will host the annual Safety Town event from July 23 through 27 and offer two sessions for convenience.

Safety Town is a realistic, child-sized town designed to provide a complete hands-on safety education for children entering kindergarten in the fall. The course teaches safety lessons that can be applied at home and school. They include:

  • Fire safety with the South Windsor Fire Department;
  • bus safety;
  • calling 911;
  • how to read traffic lights and use crosswalks;
  • bicycle safety with the South Windsor Police Department;
  • and stranger danger.   

The first session is offer from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 while the second session is offered from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The cost is $30 per session, and the event will take place at the Unity Church of Greater Hartford at 919 Ellington Road in South Windsor.
