CONNECTICUT — Online applications are being accepted through Friday, Feb. 19 at midnight for the Bohdan Kolinsky Memorial Scholarship For Sports Journalism, offered to high school seniors planning to study sports media in college.

A $3,000 scholarship is awarded annually by the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance (CSWA) to a high school senior from Connecticut who has been admitted to an accredited four-year college for study leading to a career in sports journalism (print, TV, digital).

The scholarship honors the memory of Bohdan Kolinsky, longtime high school sports editor of the Hartford Courant, who died in 2003 at the age of 49. Kolinsky was one of the top advocates for high school student-athletes in state history. The South Windsor resident served as CSWA president from 1979 to 1980, and was also a past treasurer of the organization.
