SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — After nearly two decades of servicing South Windsor and surrounding communities with outstanding golf, top-notch dining and considerable charitable involvement, the Willow Brook Golf Course and Cafe is closing, its owners announced Saturday.

In a post on its Facebook page Saturday, the Shepard family announced the closure, effective immediately. No reasoning was offered to indicate why the club, opened in 2002, was ceasing operation.

"We would like to thank our loyal employees, customers, suppliers and friends for their years of support," the family stated in its post. "We will be forever grateful to all those who helped Willow Brook provide a wonderful community for golfers to learn and perfect their game. A special thanks to our dedicated employees who, over the years, maintained a pristine golf course and provided a warm comfortable family atmosphere."
