SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — How can a place which has been around for 38 years on a busy state highway be considered hidden? Well, in the case of Lena's Restaurant, it's not really hidden, just a bit difficult to get to if you're headed northbound on Route 5 (you have to pass it and do a U-turn in the median cutout). It is, however, truly a gem.

In 1982, Pasquilina and Giuseppe Lonero, better known as Lena and Joe, purchased Pizzarama, a pizza and grinder shop at 655 John Fitch Blvd., or Route 5. They kept the name until changing it to Lena's in 1992. Their son Sal currently runs the restaurant.

The menu includes a wide selection of appetizers, salads and Italian entrees, as well as traditional pizzas and grinders. A banquet facility is also available on site.
