Assumption University, Worcester MA

  • Assumption University's Department of History has announced that Victoria Ostrowski, of South Windsor, has become a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the History National Honor Society. Ostrowski, Class of 2022, was inducted into the honor society during a virtual ceremony on April 20. Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. To qualify, undergraduate students must complete a minimum of four courses in history, achieve a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.1 in history and a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall.

  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Theatre Program presented its second production of the year, "Blood at the Root," for two weekends between March 19 and March 28. Among the students who made the production possible was senior Sean Kennedy of South Windsor, who majors in New Media Studies. Kennedy served as a projections media artist.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Education Department inducted 34 students into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for education, on Dec. 5, 2020. Among the inductees was Abigail Bourdon of South Windsor, a senior majoring in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. Founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois, what first began as club of 22 members has grown into an international society with more than 1.2 million members. Eastern's chapter, Epsilon Nu, was founded in 1943. To be selected for membership, students must exhibit a promising future in the field of education, and promote high personal standards and scholarship ideals.

Emerson College, Boston MA

  • Two students from South Windsor were named to Emerson College's Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester. The requirement to make Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester. Lexie Piepmeier is majoring in Media Arts Production, and Molli DeRosa is majoring in Journalism.

Goodwin University, East Hartford CT

  • Goodwin University announces 1,128 students achieved Dean's list status for the fall 2020 session. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify. Honorees from South Windsor were Lindsay Campo, John Cashman, Ashley Cole, John Dang, Meghan Duhamel, Saron Gessesse, Gina Giordano, Kathleen Guerino, Emily Krawski, Jennifer Nguyen, Chau Nguyen, Patrycja Potaczala, Amy Rahm, Maryann Reynolds, Maria Taggart, Sarah Williams, Nia Yoon and Lea Jacques.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

  • Eight South Windsor students were named to the fall 2020 Dean's List. They are Sean Georgiades, Anna Hanchuk, Des Hatika, Danny Kruzick, Jess Mann, Brandon Parada, Kellie Ward and Sean Woods. To be included on the Dean's List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average.

University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford CT

  • Seven students from South Windsor were named to the University of Saint Joseph Dean’s List for the fall 2020 semester. Students who are awarded this academic achievement have earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the semester, with no grade lower than a “B.” Honorees from South Windsor were Rinu Abraham, Samantha Brey, Percy Chen, Ashlee Fife, Kristina Montecalvo, Ananya Srivatsav and Shannon Thompson.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Steven Futtner, of South Windsor, was among over 30 students from the Western New England University College of Business inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society in a virtual ceremony held on March 5. Futtner is working toward a BSBA in Accounting. Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes the best and brightest members of the nation's first-year college students. The mission of the Society is to encourage superior academic achievement, to promote intelligent living and a high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals in society. Students in Alpha Lambda Delta must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 after their first semester of full-time enrollment.
  • Three students from South Windsor earned their place on Western New England University's distinguished President's List for the fall 2020 semester. They are Connor Dunn, working toward a BSBA in Sport Management; Steven Futtner, working toward a degree in Business; and Nicholas Lopes, working toward a BSE in Mechanical Engineering. To qualify for the President's List, students must achieve a GPA of 3.80 or higher.
