Man Charged With DUI After Allegedly Driving Wrong Way on Divided Highway

Drivers had to veer out of the way to avoid collisions.

An East Hartford man was arrested Tuesday after he was allegedly traveling the wrong way on John Fitch Boulevard around 1 a.m.

According to police, an officer saw the vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes and signaled for the car to pull over. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, several other vehicles had to veer out of their lane to avoid colliding with it, police said.

Officers stopped the vehicle and conducted a series of roadside sobriety tests, then arrested the driver, Darnell Kinsey, 38, of 25 Bidwell Ave., East Hartford.
