Picture South Windsor - Then And Now

An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Once again, we journey inside an amazing picture book entitled Images of America: South Windsor, compiled in 2017 by Claire Lobdell for the Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The book, containing 128 pages of fascinating photos from the town's history, is available for purchase at the library's museum store here.

On page 118, we find the home of John and Mary Taft at 240 Pleasant Valley Rd. John Taft was a Civil War veteran, and his son Joseph was a milk peddler.

The house pictured above was demolished many years ago. According to town property records, the home shown below, courtesy of the South Windsor assessor's office, was built in 1942 at 240 Pleasant Valley Rd.
