Picture South Windsor - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Time for another foray into an amazing picture book entitled Images of America: South Windsor, compiled in 2017 by Claire Lobdell for the Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The book, containing 128 pages of fascinating photos from the town's history, is available for purchase at the library's museum store here.
On page 84, we find a temple opened in 1964 to house Congregation Beth Hillel. Located at 1001 Foster St. Ext., the brick building was constructed after the congregation met for four years in the Wapping Community Church. Over time, increased membership necessitated a larger space, and in 2000, the congregation moved into new headquarters on Governor's Highway.
The old location currently is home to St. Lawrence Chapel, Society of Saint Pius X. A more contemporary aerial view is shown below, courtesy of Google Maps.
