Picture South Windsor - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — It's time for another visit inside the pages of an amazing picture book entitled Images of America: South Windsor, compiled in 2017 by Claire Lobdell for the Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The book, containing 128 pages of fascinating photos from the town's history, is available for purchase at the library's museum store here.
On page 47, we find a house at 960 Main Street, on the northeast corner of Newberry Road. Built around 1785, the home belonged to the Newberry family for nearly two centuries. Dwight Newberry was an avid ornithologist who donated his collection of mounted birds to the Wood Memorial Library & Museum; he died in 1969 at age 99.
Remarkably, the exterior of the house has changed very little over the years, as evidenced by this more contemporary view ,courtesy of Google Maps.
