Picture South Windsor - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Once again we return to the pages of an amazing picture book entitled Images of America: South Windsor, compiled in 2017 by Claire Lobdell for the Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The book, containing 128 pages of fascinating photos from the town's history, is available for purchase at the library's museum store here.
Among the oldest houses in town is this beauty found on page 30, located at 1835 Main St. According to the book:
"Because many of the oldest houses in South Windsor have been added onto, partially torn down, rebuilt, or moved from their original foundations, it is difficult to say with absolute certainty which house is the oldest. The house at 1835 Main Street is certainly in the running for that title, with parts of it dating to 1694."
By June 2019, the exterior of the house had not changed a great deal, as evidenced by this photo from Google Maps.
