Picture South Windsor - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — This week's throwback column takes us back to the 1987 edition of the South Windsor High School yearbook, The Centurion, and a law firm which has existed in town for more than seven decades, under various incarnations and in several locations.
Edward R. Kuehn founded a law practice in 1948, and later became Judge of Probate for the District of East Windsor, covering that town and South Windsor, for 28 years. He owned his own firm for more than 50 years, acquiring various partners during his tenure.
At the time of this photo, the firm was named Kuehn, Cavanaugh & Cummings, named for principals Daniel Cavanaugh and Harold Cummings. The business was located at the time at 1665 Ellington Road, or Route 30.

Over time, the Kuehn and Cavanaugh names were dropped, and the firm became known as Cummings, Lanza & Purnhagen. It is currently known as Cummings & Lanza, with attorneys Michael J. Lanza, John J. Woodcock III and John A. Bond Jr. The office is now located in an historic 1779 building at 1610 Ellington Road.
And what became of 1665 Ellington Road? According to South Windsor land records, a new building was constructed in 1999, owned by Tolland Bank (remember them?). The Hartford Federal Credit Union purchased the property in Nov. 2005, and operates there today, alongside Burns Computer Services and South Windsor Pediatrics.
