SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — In a crazy week marred by a number of rainouts and several big upsets, the latest Connecticut high school baseball poll, with few exceptions, looks nothing like the rankings of the previous week.

Cheshire maintained the top spot, collecting all 14 first-place votes, and Staples kept the third position, but the rest of the top 10 changed considerably. Newtown and Berlin made giant leaps, gaining five places each into second and fifth, respectively. Fairfield Ludlowe also moved up a notch into fourth.

South Windsor worked its way back into the top 10, placing eighth in the most recent balloting.
