South Windsor Council Adopts Connecticut Race Amity Day
A resolution encouraging South Windsor residents to join in activities celebrating diversity was unanimously approved Monday.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A resolution designating the second Sunday in June each year as Connecticut Race Amity Day, encouraging South Windsor residents to join in activities celebrating diversity, was unanimously approved by the town council at Monday night's regular meeting.
The resolution added, "The South Windsor Town Council stands firmly committed to peace, justice, freedom, and establishing an anti-racist culture in South Windsor."
Across the country, the mission of the National Center for Race Amity (NCRA) is "the cultivation of race amity as its key tool as well as its end goal in advancing access, equity, social justice and unity."

According to the organization's website, the NCRA and its supporters are "calling on the U.S. Congress for a joint resolution to establish the second Sunday in June of each year as a time for Americans to reflect and affirm the dignity of the diverse racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds of the human mosaic that constitutes the United States of America."
