South Windsor Food Alliance Kicks Off Winter Market

The South Windsor Winter Market began its second season Saturday with a host of vendors offering locally grown foods and handmade treasures that are rarely found at any store.

The offerings included goat cheese, soy candles, gluten-free baked goods and truffles - even mushroom laced dog treats that boost the immune system. Three generations of women presented beaded jewelry, chair massages and pony rides were available and of course, locally grown produce was for sale, too.

The market offers local artisans an opportunity to showcase their products without the expense or struggle of setting up their own store, one vendor said. And it offers locals the opportunity to find unique treasures for the next month.

The market returns next Saturday at St. Mary Margaret Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information visit swfood.org.
