South Windsor Girls Soccer Valiant in Tough Loss to Glastonbury
Season ends in quarterfinals of state Class LL tournament.

The South Windsor High girls soccer team had its season come to a close against an old nemesis in the quarterfinals of the state Class LL tournament, as Glastonbury defeated the Bobcats 1-1 (6-4) on penalties on Friday.
It was the third time this year the two teams met, with the Tomahawks getting the better of the Bobcats in each match.
This one, however, was the closest yet.

After No. 2 Glastonbury’s Ariana Fluet scored in the 45th minute, Kat Comeau brought 10th-seeded South Windsor level in the 66th minute.
The two teams played two overtime periods with no score and Glastonbury prevailed 6-4 on the tie-breaking penalty kicks.

South Windsor goalkeeper Keegan Caffrey had three saves in the loss, while Clara Boucher, her Glastonbury counterpart, also made three saves.
It was the third consecutive overtime match in the state tournament for South Windsor (13-6-1), who defeated No. 23 West Haven 3-0 in the first round and No. 26 Greenwich 1-0 in the second round.
South Windsor lost a heartbreaking 2-1 match to Newtown in the quarterfinals last year.
