South Windsor Police: Man Used Google Maps to Target Car Break-Ins

Man accused of breaking into dozens of cars a night.

South Windsor Police have charged a Massachusetts man for allegedly using Google maps to locate cars to break into.

Police charged Andrew Dupree, 20, of Holyoke, MA, in a spate of car burglaries that took place in the area in August. According to police, Bloomfield Police identified Dupree as a suspect in the burglaries and determined he had been using Google maps to locate affluent areas and target them, searching dozens of unlocked cars several times a week.

South Windsor Police obtained an arrest warrant for Dupree, which was served Tuesday morning at Manchester Superior Court, where Dupree was appearing on related charges out of Vernon and Bloomfield. Dupree reportedly admitted to using Google maps to find affluent areas to rob.
