South Windsor Public Education Fund Walkathon a Success

The event took place Saturday along with Heritage Day.

In lieu of hosting a Longest Dinner Table this year, the South Windsor Public Education Fund held a Walkathon on Saturday as its major fundraiser for the fall.
And the event was successful, with the event raising about $16,000.

More than 200 people took part in the walk, which comprised a 4.8-mile loop on Main Street, according to Liza Love, the chair of the South Windsor Public Education Fund Committee*.

The idea this year was to have the event tie in to Heritage Day, which took place on the corner of Sullivan Avenue and Main Street. Part of that tie in was to have volunteers along the walk pose historical questions to the walkers.

Love specifically credited TicketNetwork, which donated $10,000 to the walk, as making the walk a success.

"We also had a great committee," Love said.
