South Windsor Students Win National Merit Scholarships
A pair of South Windsor High School students were selected to receive the prestigious academic awards.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Two students at South Windsor High School were recently among the first group of winners in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Ella K. Manning won the National Merit LPL Financial Scholarship, and is likely entering the computer science career field. Alexander P. Viar won the National Merit RAytheon Scholarship, and is likely entering the finance career field.
About 1,000 distinguished high school seniors have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 140 corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations.

Scholars were selected from students who advanced to the Finalist level in the National
Merit Scholarship competition and met criteria of their scholarship sponsors. Corporate sponsors
provide National Merit Scholarships for Finalists who are children of their employees, who are
residents of communities the company serves, or who plan to pursue college majors or careers the
sponsor wishes to encourage.
