South Windsor Top Business Nominee: Sal's Pizza

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Recently, South Windsor Patch asked readers to nominate their favorite local business for Business of the Year. Many South Windsor businesses have managed to navigate the turbulence of 2020 with steadfast determination and an unwavering commitment to the clients they serve.

Sal's Pizza, in the Town Center plaza at 1735 Ellington Rd., has been serving hungry customers for 20 years, but owner Sal Mazzarella draws on experience far greater than that. His family came to America from Sicily when he was 14 years old, and he began his career in the food service industry as a baker at Modern Pastry in Hartford. His passion for making pizzas led him to establish his own restaurant in 2000.

"Our menu includes appetizers, pizzas, calzones, soups, pastas, subs, salads, dinners and much much more," he said. "All of our dishes are made with love, and the ingredients are fresh and the best quality."

The dining room is open, and to-go orders are always welcome. DoorDash delivery service is now available, and catering services for special events are also offered.

Customers who nominated Sal's as South Windsor's best business praised not only the food and service, but also complimented Mazzarella and his staff for their professionalism during numerous restrictions placed on restaurants during the coronavirus pandemic.
