Strive for Five, Government Meetings, The Savage Bros. Concert
Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, South Windsor! Today is Wednesday, April 24, 2013; there are 250 days left in the year.
Hi there, Ted's evil ogre boss here. While Ted is away, I'll continue to provide you with this great list of five things going on in and around South Windsor during the work week, sprinkled with some of the cool stuff happening on the weekend.
One thing I can almost guarantee you is that I won't be linking to any Taylor Swift videos (sorry, Ted).
Anyhoo... I attended the school board meeting last night (more news from that later), and as I was walking down the front stairwell from the second floor meeting room to leave I noticed a bunch of paper hands on the wall. Intrigued, I decided to take a moment to read a few.
Next thing I knew I'd gone past where I should have exited and was at the door to the music room in what appeared to been the basement (it was my first time at the Timothy Edwards Middle School). What I read was fantastic.
The hands contained the script of presumably middle school students listing at least one thing they'd done that fell under one of these categories:
- Kindness
- Honesty
- Respect
- Caring
- Responsibility
The actions ranged from helping an older woman carry groceries to her car to sitting with a classmate at lunch who had been all alone. Reading them made me pause to think of what I'd done that day, or this week, that might fall under one of the Strive for Five categories. I decided that buying a coffee for the stranger behind me in the Starbucks drive-through earlier that day would suffice and fall under kindness.
What about you? What have you done this week that might make it onto one of the paper hands taped to the walls at the Timothy Edwards Middle School?
