SW Steering Wheel Incident Leaves Passenger With Charge

A car passenger wrestled with a steering wheel and caused a crash, police said.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A passenger in a car traveling in South Windsor has been charged after he grabbed the steering wheel and forced a crash, police said.

Frederick Obrian Brown, 39, of East Windsor surrendered on a warrant Sunday, police said. The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on Oct. 6, police said. Brown is accused of grabbing the steering wheel of a moving vehicle while in it as a passenger, causing the vehicle to crash, police said.

The driver sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Brown has been charged with second-degre reckless endangerment, police said.

Brown was released on a $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Oct. 30.
