Warehouse Employee Injured In South Windsor Workplace Accident

Rescue personnel freed the man after his foot became trapped in a large trash compactor, according to fire officials.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A worker at a South Windsor grocery distribution center was injured Sunday night when his foot became trapped in a large trash compactor, according to South Windsor fire officials.

Emergency personnel responding to the Aldi’s distribution center on Rye St. found the employee with his foot trapped between a 4x4 constructed pallet and a steel compact plate. After ensuring the machine was powered off, locked out and tagged out, the man was freed about 15 minutes later, officials said.

The employee sustained injuries believed to be non-life threatening, officials said.
