Weapons, Assault Charges Filed After Altercation In South Windsor

A tractor trailer driver from California is accused of using wooden nunchucks during a fight, according to police.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A truck driver from California was arrested Wednesday night after an altercation at a Sullivan Avenue auto parts warehouse, during which he is accused of punching another man and attacking him with wooden nunchucks, according to police.

Maximum Elbey, 34, of Sun Valley, Calif., was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree assault and third-degree assault. He was held overnight in lieu of $75,000 bond, and was slated to appear Thursday in Manchester Superior Court.

Elbey was involved in an altercation at Mobis Parts America, when he attacked an employee after a verbal altercation, punched him in the face and attacked him with wooden nunchucks, striking him in the head three times. Elbey was restrained by other employees prior to police arrival, police said.

The man involved in the altercation with Elbey was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, police said.

A pair of 13-inch long swords and several other martial arts-style weapons were located in the passenger compartment of Elbey's tractor trailer, police said.
