The developers of the Connecticut Studios project have been granted another extension.
Last week, Town Council members approved the extension, the fourth since the original deadline of Oct. 26, 2012, for construction to begin on the $54.5 million project at the corner of Route 5 and Chapel Road. (The CT Studios plan has been publicly discussed at some level since 2008, according to the Hartford Business Journal.)
The main reason for the renewed support is that, since the last extension was provided on April 1, the developer secured $14 million in executed commitment letters from First Niagra Bank, a sign of measurable progress that had been lacking for some time.
