Arrest Made In Stafford Armed Robbery Case

A Massachusetts man has been charged in connection with a March 17 armed robbery at a gas station/convenience store.

STAFFORD, CT — A Massachusetts resident was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him in connection with the armed robbery of a gas station/convenience store in Stafford.

Daniel Kingsbury, 37, of Hampden, Mass., was charged with first-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace. He is being held at the Hartford Correctional Center in lieu of $75,000 bond, and is slated to be arraigned Monday in Rockville Superior Court.

At 6:46 p.m. Tuesday, state police received a 911 call from a clerk at the Sara Mini Mart at the junction of Routes 190 and 32, reporting the store had just been robbed by a man displaying a firearm. After a thorough neighborhood canvass, the investigation was assumed by the Eastern District Major Crime Squad of Connecticut, according to a police report.

After several days of investigation, detectives were granted an arrest warrant for Kingsbury, who turned himself in at the Somers Resident Trooper's office around 2 p.m. Friday.
